Don's music notes:
Praise to God for every blessing! As Martin Luther said:"Apart from the Word of God,
music deserves the highest praise!" I have had the joy of hearing words and music
whispered in my hear from God for nearly forty years but the past two years have been so
fulfilling as I have been joined in music ministry by Aaron Cabay, Luis Busa, Henrik
Molintas, Matt, Tim and Sarah Costales and my son, Sean, each of whom have added so
much to the presentations we have made. They take my small contributions and make
them soar! Also, the singers, young and not so young, who work hard and give their best
for the months we work to sing for one hour. Thank you. A special thanks to Hermie
Manaloto, who has encouraged me each season and to dear Phoebe who quotes lyrics
from my songs in Sunday School class!
May we all be willing to work even more diligently this season as we prepare
"Life-Changer!" which promises to be our best yet!
A couple of summers ago, I wrote a song which was sung as a solo by Henrik called "Turn
Away" It was sung again last Sunday by Kristen Santos and John Liwanang who gave it
new vim and vigor. It's a song of conviction and here are the words: I hope it blesses you!
"(Why do we)Turn Away"
1. Love was the reason why Gods' Son came down to die
But, this world seldom sighs, if it ever recalls His pain, Christ's saving pain..
Very few feel the need for sacrifice or creed, though our sin made Jesus bleed,
We think somebody else will pay, there must be another way..
Why do we turn away, in all we do and say?
We're lost, but won't face it, yet, we won't embrace this:
God's love, sweet and tender, but we won't surrender..
Why do we run and hide? Even though, deep inside we know we won't make it,
But, why do we fake it each one of our lonely days?
Why do we turn away?
2. Nothing we've ever tried can fill the void inside
So, to ourselves we've lied that Christ Jesus is not the way,the only Way.
Maybe the time is near when we reject our fear,
Each moment Gods' Spirit's near, so, just call out His name today,
His wonderful name today!
Then, we won't turn away, with joy, we'll greet the day
Not lost, for we faced it, in faith we embraced this:
God's love sweet and tender, at last,we surrendered!
No more to run and hide, God gave us joy inside!
We know now we'll make it, we don't have to fake it,
There are no more lonely days, Now we won't turn away!
