RESCUE OF TRAPPED MINERS CALLED OFF!
Six miners were trapped 1,500 feet under the Crandall Canyon Mine in Utah. Their shafts collapsed when the
mountain shook on August 6, 2007. Seven holes were subsequently bored by rescuers to reach them. Three
rescuers died when the tunnels they dug caved in also. After almost a month of 24/7 digging with now signs of life
heard from underground, rescue efforts were finally called off in September. Instead, memorial services were
organized by the community in order to help the grieving families gain closure on their tragedy.
In contrast, God never forsakes His children under any circumstance. His word of honor is: “I will never leave you
nor forsake you”(Hebrews 13:5). No matter how desperate the situation may be He’s there to comfort and meet
their needs.
This is our source of courage and strength as believers. But we must learn to trust Him even in difficult times.
Oswald Chambers reminds us, "Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the One who is
leading." We can praise and thank Him at all times, for our God never leads us where His grace cannot protect
and sustain us (I Cor. 10:13).
