1. FOCUSED PRAYERS AND GIVING FOR USA-CANADIAN MISSIONS THIS MONTH. So. Baptist churches are committed to focus
their prayers and missions giving this time of the year to their cooperative efforts of bringing the gospel to America and Canada.
This special focus is named after a Baltimore lady called Annie Armstrong who led in this effort early last century.
Here are some Fast Facts about the Annie Armstrong Missions Offering:
Target of this Outreach: Our missions efforts seek to reach an estimated 251 million lost people in USA and Canada. That's three of
four people.
AAEO 2009 Goal: $65 million
Amount given to AAEO in 2007: $59.3 million
How much is used to support missionaries and their work: 100%
Number of NAMB missionaries: More than 5,500
Generally, a third of the number represents career missionaries, a third are short-term funded missionaries, and a third are Mission
Service Corps missionaries.
Total 2007 North American Mission Board budget: $124,000,000
Amount of NAMB budget that comes from Annie: 46%
Amount of NAMB budget from Cooperative Program: 36%
What do AAEO-supported missionaries do?
*Start new churches
*Engage in student evangelism on college campuses
*Provide people’s physical & spiritual needs via inner-city Baptist centers
*Serve in local Baptist associations as missionary or other mission staff
*Provide training & ministry in apologetics (interfaith witness) evangelism
*Minister in resort settings, schools and the armed forces
